The Younique Foundation
The Younique Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2015 offering support resources for adult women survivors of child sexual abuse. The Haven Retreat is a 4-day retreat for survivors and free of charge. The mission is a message of hope and healing for survivors, while leading a global mission to end child sexual abuse. One in four girls will be sexually abused before reaching the age of 18. Younique’s resources include: two retreat locations (in Georgia and Utah) with over 3,000 survivors helped to date; online course enrollment, support more than two dozen global survivor support groups; community education on child sexual abuse prevention and safety. Ridgeview Charter Middle School’s International Baccalaureate Global Service Club represented Ridgeview’s IB program at the Sandy Springs Festival. Students, parent chaperones, and club sponsors took donations for participants to make beaded bracelets, and the club donated almost $400 to the Red Cross for Hurricane Dorian Relief. Riverwood International Charter School’s Community Based Instruction program is supporting students with disabilities on site with hands-on learning opportunities and even internships for students with special needs to acquire life skills for today’s world. Dunwoody Springs Elementary School students in the school’s STEM Club got a head start on high school anatomy with a porcine heart dissection guided by the STEM teacher and parent volunteers.

The Heritage Sandy Springs Outdoors Club (HSSOC) officially launched in June 2017. Not only does the HSSOC provide free membership, but also complimentary guide-led hikes in our 16 city parks. These hikes and activities are available to people of all ages and walks of life. They even allow pets! The Outdoors Club meets on Friday evenings (8:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.) and Saturday mornings (8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.) to explore and appreciate the nature around us. In addition to the regularly-scheduled weekly treks, the club also gathers for social events, day trips to mountain trails, and special holiday hikes. The HSSOC is an excellent way to visit beautiful parks and trails in the area while meeting other outdoor enthusiasts. The club is FREE and open to the public; all ages and skill levels welcome.
