Our Girls Getway to Hilton Head
Without missing a beat, my sweet friend Melissa invited our daughter to live with them for her senior year when we up and moved to Atlanta. She didn’t do it because we were friends. She did it for Jane. Melissa’s sincere outpouring of generosity and hospitality runs deep. She validates me, encouraging me with her affirmations. She’s a curious consumer of new music, smart design, elevated food and creative cocktails. I love her and she’s my pick for a girls weekend in Hilton Head where she spent family holidays as a girl. This trip, however, will be a little different!
Our home base: The Inn & Club at Harbour Town at The Sea Pines Resort. Grabbing complimentary cruisers, we will pack the baskets with refreshments and head to the beach, riding across the sandy shoreline, racing the waves up to The Quarterdeck to watch the sun set and have a huge salad. Golf with Dana Rader then a tennis lesson with the one and only Stan Smith!

We checked in with a nattily dressed team member at a private desk in the clubby lobby and were greeted by name throughout the stay. Four different pillow options, the newest iPod dock and cool bikes made the trip sing.

“Always know your target…on and off the court,” advised former U.S. Open and Wimbledon Champion Stan Smith during an unbelievable private lesson. I admire him most for his work with the Heritage Classic Foundation and Boys & Girls Club.

The periwinkle walls winked at us as we passed. Inside, a sophisticated selection of jewelry, home accessories and perfect hostess gifts were artfully arranged. Seasonal gifts (Mother’s Day, cheerful Spring accents, flowery note cards) and local art all neatly packaged.
