Recycling News

Thanks to a new tech startup, Cyrcle Compost, consumers and businesses now have a choice about what to do with their banana peels, other food and yard waste, and non-recyclable paper.  For a low monthly fee, Cyrcle Compost will come to your home or business, collect the food waste that you accumulate in a special odorless, compostable bag they provide and deliver it to a local farm or facility that will convert it to nutrient-rich compost. “We want to make it extremely easy for people to choose to recycle their food waste, keep it out of landfills and subsequently convert it into a much-needed resource,” says Georgia Tech grad and Cyrcle Compost cofounder Rebecca Weizenecker.  “Unlike most commercial fertilizers that feed plants a few primary nutrients, compost feeds the soil, restoring essential microbes and micronutrients often depleted by traditional agribusiness practices.” Recycling food waste is clearly the best choice, and Cyrcle Compost’s stated mission is, “To make it easier to be better.”  This company is attracting customers by offering affordable service options and providing a collection bin and collection bags. Cyrcle Compost will also provide their customers with a bag of the compost.

Northside Hospital Study

A clinical study recently conducted by Northside Hospital’s Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program could give allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant patients a better chance for a cure. The study revealed new criteria for how physicians choose half-match (haploidentical) donors for patients who do not have a fully matched donor within their family. The BMT Program at Northside Hospital is one of the largest programs in the Southeast and has seen among the best survival outcomes in the nation for bone marrow transplants, per data released by the National Marrow Donor Program and The Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research. Seventy percent of patients nationally who need a hematopoietic cell transplant don’t have a fully matched donor, but haploidentical donors are readily available for nearly all such patients, according to Be The Match. Dance Revolution

In Sandy Springs, a dance instructor is taking the fitness world by storm one dance at a time. DJay Jackson teaches a dance fitness class that is not only helping people to get into shape, but they are actually having fun – a lot of fun – while doing it. But it doesn’t stop there.  There is a sense of empowerment that slowly takes over the room. Women from all walks of life dance like nobody is watching, during a 60-minute class that makes each one of them feel free, sexy and beautiful. Born in Indiana, Djay moved to Atlanta seven years ago where he became a chef, but his natural dance talent took him to an unexpected path where he found himself sharing his great energy with people and guiding them through a fitness experience like no other. His ability to make everybody around him feel empowered is undeniable and his classes offer 60 minutes of a fabulous dance workout each and every time. Sandy Springs Bodyworks, 230 Hammond Drive, Ste 326 and Lifetime Atlanta at 5580 Roswell Rd, Sandy Springs
