Art Outside

The Dunwoody Nature Center presents its inaugural Art in the Park event, “Hoos in the Forest,” sponsored by Oldcastle, Inc. This event will feature the whimsical creations of artist Salley McInerney who uses naturally found materials to create approximately 20 “creatures” that will be on display throughout the trails and in the meadow of Dunwoody Park. Attendees to this past year’s Monarch & Margaritas event may remember Salley’s “Dolores” sculpture from the evening’s festivities – one of the many creatures that will populate the park this fall. The opening reception is planned for Saturday, October 15 and will begin with a 10 a.m. artist’s talk, followed by a creature tour; docent led tour, creature and creature cabin building workshops, as well as a “poetry on demand” component. Lunch and beverages for the reception will be provided by Village Burger. To help tie in to the installation, which runs through November 15, visitors will be encouraged to share their pictures on social media using the hashtag #hoosintheforest. Visitors will also be able to vote on their favorite creature, either in person or through social media, and the students of Austin Elementary will spend the month in the forest with the creatures and use them for inspiration in their creative writing projects. Candyland at A+

A+ Pediatric Dentistry’s Annual Candy Buy Back Party is a fun event for our community where Dr. Jaha Howard buys Halloween candy back from our kids. Children love the idea of having money in hand as they party with DJ Willy Wow! What makes this event extra fantastic is that the candy that they collect is sent overseas with care packages to our soldiers. Have your little ghouls bring their candy between 4 – 6 p.m. on November 1 to A+ Pediatric Dentistry in the Vining Jubilee Shopping Center. Dr. Jaha Howard is a different kind of pediatric dentist. With his kid-oriented approach, he helps children get genuinely excited about their dental care. You will find that his warm personality and fun teaching style help children to develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime. AtlantaKidSmiles.com
