Dawn Tresh of Sandy Springs at the helm
With a new one-night format and the addition of mobile bidding, the Art Papers 17th Annual Art Auction coming up on February 27, promises to offer more fast-paced art fun than ever. And with Sandy Springs resident Dawn Tresh on board as Chair, the non-profit Art Papers can look forward to drawing new supporters and more attendees.
Each year, the Art Papers Art Auction is Atlanta’s largest contemporary art auction and features more than 200 renowned and emerging artists from Atlanta and around the world. The event typically welcomes upwards of 1,200 art lovers, both seasoned and novice, and gives them the opportunity to build their collections while enjoying a great party.
“Every year the Art Papers Art Auction brings an energy to the city by pulling together works from emerging artists as well as those who are more established,” says Tresh who moved to the area from New York City nearly 20 years ago and has been in Sandy Springs for the past five years. “Discovering new art and seeing how favorite artists have grown is always exciting.”
While Tresh is a confirmed art lover and collector, the Auction provides a social format that offers an extra element of anticipation. “Working on events has been a longtime passion of mine,” she says. With The Visibility marketing Group, she has had the opportunity to be part of the Best Cellars Dinner, which benefits The TJ Martell Foundation and the Winship Cancer Institute, as well as several art events at the Westside Cultural Center. She has also volunteered her time to PADV’s Hearts with Hope Gala, JF&CS’ The Tasting and the High Museum Wine auction.
“I am also fortunate to have many philanthropic friends who willingly give their time, in turn we support each other in the events and causes we are passionate about,” says Tresh. “The Art Papers Art Auction has always been one of my favorite events to attend. I was on the Auction host committee for four years and was thrilled when given the opportunity to chair the event.”
The 2016 Art Papers Art Auction will be held in the visually stunning BoBo Intriguing Objects in Midtown’s Westside. The evening kicks off with a VIP Preview where guests will enjoy catered hors d’oeuvres, open bar cocktails and live music. VIP Preview attendees also have the opportunity to “Buy it Now” and secure their favorite works for 15 percent above retail. When the Art Auction + Party doors open, the real bidding frenzy can begin as guests peruse the collection-worthy artworks and sample fare from some of Atlanta’s top chefs or grab libations at the bar. Throughout the Art Auction, DJ sounds and surprise entertainment pay homage to the 1970s inception of Art Papers.
Interested guests can join Tresh for this evening of artistic fun or even bid on artwork offsite via mobile bidding. Tickets and information are available at ArtPapers.org.
