Feed Local Kids this Summer

Don’t let local children go hungry this summer. With CAC you can provide summer lunches for children who may otherwise go without. Summers can be stressful for families on tight budgets due to increased costs for childcare and food for children who get free lunches at school. A CAC Summer Lunch Bag helps families by providing children with free lunches for a week. A Summer Lunch Bag contains five kid-friendly lunches and costs about $35. Visit the CAC website at OurCAC.org for a lunch bag list of contents. Pack a Summer Lunch Bag, give items from the list or make a donation online.

Helping End Hunger

The annual Give Me Five dinner, an exclusive evening featuring Atlanta’s best chefs and sommeliers and benefitting Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign, will be held on August 16, at Piedmont Driving Club. The event centers around five exquisite courses prepared by acclaimed local chefs and complemented by fine wines selected by celebrated sommeliers. Celebrating its ninth anniversary, this year’s Give Me Five will feature honorary chef Jay Yarbrough (Piedmont Driving Club) along with Chad Anderson (Oak Steakhouse), Eric Wolitzky (Fifth Group Restaurants), Linton Hopkins (Restaurant Eugene and Holeman & Finch) and Zeb Stevenson (Watershed). Atlanta sommeliers include sommelier chair Gil Kulers (Piedmont Driving Club), Caleb Hopkins (Atlas Restaurant), Clarke Anderson (No. 246), Perrine Prieur (Perrine’s Wine Shop) and Silvio Garcia (Cherokee Town and Country Club). Tickets are $275 per person and $2,500 for a table of 10. Tickets can be purchased online at CE.Strength.org/events/give-me-five. The No Kid Hungry campaign is working to end childhood hunger in this nation by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need every day by connecting them to nutrition programs such as school breakfast and summer meals and by teaching families how to cook healthy, affordable meals at home. NoKidHungry.org.

Give Kids Tools for School!

CAC makes it easy to help local children this summer. Give to CAC’s Tools for School campaign and help prepare students for the start of school with the tools they need to learn! Through CAC you give two for the price of one when you donate to Tools for School. Your donation of $35 provides for two backpacks filled with school supplies thanks to the power of wholesale purchasing. In addition, every dollar donated will be matched by an anonymous donor up to $10,000. Don’t miss this opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life. Give to CAC’s Tools for School and help 1,000 local children be prepared to learn for the next academic year! Donate online for Tools for School at OurCac.org/ToolsForSchool.

Syren Shooting & Spa Package

Heed the call of the Syren shotgun for a shooting and spa package offering a perfect pairing of adventure and relaxation at Barnsley Resort. With the two-night Syren Shooting & Spa Package, guests receive a shooting lesson at the clays course at SpringBank Sporting Club, including 50 targets per person and rental of the Syren shotgun, designed specifically for women by the experts at Caesar Guerini and Fabarm. After the shoot, relax with a $100 spa credit per person for The Spa at Barnsley Resort. While the credit may be used for any treatment, therapists recommend the deep forest detox body treatment or herbal compression massage to focus on relaxing muscles engaged in shooting.

The Syren Shooting & Spa Package also includes breakfast for two in The Woodlands Grill daily and luxurious overnight accommodations. According to a National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) report, there has been a huge increase of women hunters since 2001 (9%) and a massive increase of target shooters (60%). The Syren shotgun is a new “designed for ladies” gun from Caesar Guerini and Fabarm. They are one of the few locations to offer the Syrens in rental inventory, so ladies can test it out while they’re shooting, and also don’t have to have the added weight/length of a shotgun that is really designed for men. BarnsleyResort.com
